I am licensed to practice law in state and federal courts in both Ohio and Illinois. I am a native of Cincinnati and earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Arizona in 1995. After that, I attended law school at the Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio and earned my Juris Doctor in 1998.
My previous legal experience includes Insurance Defense Litigation, Workers’ Compensation and Employment Law. Currently, I am a member of the Cincinnati Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the Lake County Bar Association and the Association of Women Attorneys of Lake County. My husband and I have one daughter and make our residence in Lake County, IL.
In October 2007 I completed my Family/Divorce Mediation Training through Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. As part of my prior work, I mediated various types of disputes. My desire to focus on mediation comes from years of litigation in the courtroom and seeing the negative affects it had on people. No one ever “won” with litigation. Mediation gives the parties a chance to make their own decisions and do what is best for them and their children.
MISSION STATEMENT
I choose to focus my efforts on mediation because I truly believe there are other options and avenues to explore other than Court when it comes to divorce and/or separation. Disputes do not always have to end in a win-loose situation. Rather, they can be resolved on a common ground with an equitable resolution. With mediation, there is no Judge telling you what to do. I gain satisfaction from working directly with people in order to resolve conflict.
